Sutton is a census-designated place (CDP) in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough in the U.S. state of Alaska. It is part of the Anchorage, Alaska Metropolitan Statistical Area. At the 2010 census the population was 1,447. The CDP includes the former coal mining community and road construction camp of Sutton. ==Geography== Sutton is located at (61.712473, -148.885625), 52–72 miles (84–116 km) northeast of Anchorage along the Glenn Highway. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 151.6 square miles (392.7 km²), of which, 151.3 square miles (391.8 km²) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.9 km²) of it (0.23%) is water.
